WHY JPCC?
The Jamaica Plain Community Centers, Inc., a charitable organization as defined in the Massachusetts General Laws in Chapter 180., Sec. 26n, will work to offer a unique opportunity to involve neighborhood residents in the planning of programs that meet both individual and community needs.
Our Goal is to:
-
Facilitate both community cohesion and individual growth by providing a wide variety of programs and services appropriate to community needs as identified by those who participate.
-
Increase awareness of the rich cultural, economic, political, and racial diversity of the community by promoting activities which encourage cross-cultural experiences and the exchange of values.
-
Maximize the use of community facilities for social, educational, recreational, and vocational programs to provide each resident with opportunities to develop and fulfill his/her goals.
-
Serve as a forum for community people to gain experience in participatory democracy and develop leadership skills.
-
Encourage citizen involvement and participation in those processes which directly affect the quality of their everyday life.
